Prisoner William Hall, transported to Tasmania on the Maria Soames 2, was convicted and sentenced to eight years imprisonment in the Hobart Supreme  Court on 7 July 1868 for uttering a forged cheque. He was 58 years, 5 ft 5ins tall, with red brown hair. Government contractor Thomas Nevin photographed William Hall on discharge at the Municipal Police Office, Hobart Town Hall, on 21 January 1874.



William Hall was admitted to the Cascades Asylum for Men as a pauper on 25 November 1874 and discharged a month later at his own request on 18 January 1875.
